Share The Dignity
A Round-up of the Bellarine Women's Network evening in July 2024
Our wonderful speaker was Jessica Patti from the Geelong branch of Share the Dignity - and what an inspiring young woman she is. Jessica works full time, has a young family and still invests her time and energy to volunteer for this amazing organisation.
Jessica spoke about period poverty and the history of Share The Dignity which is an Australian wide organisation, with their head office in Brisbane. There are a small number of paid employees, but the rest of the team are volunteers all over Australia.
Share The Dignity successfully campaigned for the removal of GST on period products, lobbying the Federal Government over many years.
The many donated items collected by BWN and other groups in the region are then distributed to their identified charity partners who give them directly to those in need.
July was the last month BWN called for products for Share the Dignity and in November the items will be included in the toilet bags that have been sewn, and the donated handbags - the Committee members will then drop off to the collection point at Bunnings Leopold.
Jessica expressed gratitude to the Bellarine Womens' Network for the generous donations and support that we give each and every year.
